Bass Guitar: Steve Koehler
Steve, aka “Ziggy” plays bass for Kattywompus.
Raised in the desert of Fallon Nevada, Ziggy now makes his home in Sacramento with his wife Robin.
He’s been playing music, including the piano, for most of his life and credits his mother for his musical prowess.
“She has played the piano for decades. I grew up sitting next to her on the bench and loved hearing everything she played,” Ziggy said.
“I played the trombone in grade school and she kept encouraging me when I wanted to learn the guitar.”
Aside from his mother’s influence, Ziggy was influenced by some serious rockers – not that his mother isn’t a serious rocker.
“It has to be Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy, Judas Priest and Ten Years After,” he said. “One song that really got me into the guitar was “I’d Love to Change the World” by Ten Years After.”
The hard-core rocker does have a softer side, especially when it comes to his pet parrot.
“ I own an Amazon Parrot named Missy. We have a bond like no other,” he said. “She seems like a spoiled little daughter to me.”
By day, Ziggy works for the state of California keeping the food supply safe for the Department of Food and Agriculture. In his free time he enjoys four-wheeling, riding his ATV, watching anything fast with a motor kick some ass.
As for the nights …
“Making music keeps my spirit and soul at it’s happiest,” Ziggy said. “If any of my music or the songs that I’ve created helps one person get through a crappy day, then I’ve achieved the goal.
